We are extremely proud of the community involvement here at SLHS and that pride was confirmed last night when two of our SLHS parents that have served on our PTA board for years were recognized for their efforts. Moira Luebbert and Leah Martinez were both awarded the JEFFCO PTA Jane Hammond award.
CONGRATULATIONS!

SLHS Community,
I wanted to touch base regarding our upcoming standardized assessment schedule. As you've heard we are continuing with a portion of the CMAS assessments for our Freshman in Math and Language arts, and a Science section for our juniors. The sophomore class will be taking the PSAT with the Juniors taking the ACT for the final time as a school. (Juniors will move to the SAT starting with the 2016-17 school year). Thank you for your continued support and effort in helping make SLHS the best comprehensive HS in JEFFCO.

SLHS Science teacher and IB students get PUBLISHED!
Over the past year, four of the IB students (Peyton Burger, Madeline Ellsberry, David Morgenstern, and Mara Strother) and their Science teacher Mr. Rob Cassady worked with Dr. Honda at the National Jewish Health Center, and in conjunction with 2 schools in Hawaii in a microbiological study of showerheads in Colorado and Hawaii. As a result of this work, their paper will be published in FEMS Microbiology Letters which is a peer reviewed scientific journal. The students and Mr. Cassady are coauthors for this article.
It's extremely rare for students still in high school to be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal, so this is very exciting and profound news for SLHS and the IB program. This accomplishment is a tribute to of not only the great work of our students, but how amazingly talented and dedicated the SLHS staff is!

Im so proud of our kids as they performed this morning for all of JEFFCO leadership at the Education Center. Our vocal music director Cass Chatfield has done an amazing job with our kids and their renewed passion for music was very evident in their performance! Great job Gators!
