Principal’s Update

October Count

October Count Day this year is Monday, October 3. The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your student attends school on that day. The “count window” the state observes is from Monday, September 26 through Monday, October 10, but the most important student count day is Monday, October 3. If your student will be absent on Monday, October 3 due to illness, call our attendance line, 303-982-3300 to report the absence. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on Monday, October 3.

Parent Teacher Conferences Oct. 4th

Academics

6 Week Grades

The first 6 week grades were posted this week.  These grades represent approximately 1/3 of the entire first semester grade in classes.  Since Parent Teacher conferences are next Tuesday night, we encourage you to review their grades so you can prioritize any teacher contact that may be needed.   As a reminder, students can access additional help from the Writing Center, and the Math and Science studios during off hours.

MYP Personal Projects

All 10th grade students will begin their Personal Projects in Advisement this week. This is a requirement for the Advisement class. As part of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, our 10th graders engage in this valuable exercise.

Assessment Calendar

Use this Master Assessment Calendar to determine what assessments your student will be required to take throughout the school year. This also offers some insight into why the tests are given and how teachers use the results to monitor and adjust instruction. The dates are subject to change.

IB Middle Years Programme and Spring Time

Hello SLHS Community,

As we enter the Spring sports seasons it seems like winter sports flew by and we missed it by blinking.  So many things to prepare for in the month of March as the year begins to really wind down.  We have our state assessments quickly approaching along with graduation right around the corner.

I would be remiss by not thanking the tremendous support of all our amazing parent groups and your unwavering giving back to SLHS.  The PTSA treated the staff last with an amazing lunch on the day of parent conferences that was highly appreciated by all.  I truly appreciate each and every one of the community members that I have the opportunity to serve and hope to continue building our community partnership.

Middle Years Programme- IB-  SLHS is excited to partner with Mandalay Middle School to bring the MYP to the SLHS area-  Some videos below to help better understand our vision.
